This is an impressive establishment that’s been a centre for antiques since 1985. It is situated in the heart of the historic market town of Lewes, at the foot of the South Downs National Park.

Antiques are spread wide in the warehouse area, up and down stairs, with large and unusual items being something of a speciality. The owners travel extensively around the country and across Europe to gather merchandise, so you will find a wide eclectic mix of period, vintage, and occasionally modern furniture. Always available are large farmhouse tables, desks, wardrobes, chests of drawers and leather sofas plus many more beautiful and constantly changing items, from the down to earth to the downright bizarre.

There is an elegant showroom too, with Georgian Chest on chests, Italian Commodes, large mirrors and some old painted furniture. Town meets Country meets Shabby Chic. Some soft furnishings and a few examples of carefully chosen repro . Look for the collection of modern original paintings and woodcuts, striking combinations and much to inspire.

In the middle of it all is a sunny, flower filled courtyard, where garden furniture, urns pots, and architectural pieces abound. You can take it all in while eating an excellent lunch at the café, relaxing and atmospheric, an exceptional place to visit.

As prices are reasonable, Pastorale is a popular hunting ground for the trade, who are always especially welcome. Shipping can be arranged anywhere.
